Overview:

My topic is based on the genocide that haunts the least developed countries. For quite some time now I have been drawn into the countless stories that arise from places such as Darfur, the Democratic of Congo, and other similar countries. My main focus would be the Women and Children that suffer due to the injustices brought upon them by their own people with the help of the most developed countries such as the United Sates of America. Mainly, I would like to shed some light on the life that these people live on a daily bases while our people here at home enjoy life without worries of being captured and forced into an army, or raped, or even murdered because they are from a different tribe.

Website Resources

http://www.yale.edu/cgp/

This website was fairly easy to recognize. The fact that it is a prestigious university, brings out the comfort of relying on it as a creditable source. The site offers information about the genocide that took place in Cambodia and its victims. It speaks on the Cambodia Genocide Project that has been fighting to bring peace to that part of the world.

http://academic.udayton.edu/race/06hrights/GeoRegions/Africa/Rwanda01.htm

This site is sponsored by the University of Dayton, the information on the current issue is a professor of law at the academic institution. The article goes into many different areas of genocide in developing countries, every topic from the origins of genocide, to the propaganda behind the issue, and to the types of sexual violence.

Conlcusion

After finishing my research I found many interesting facts and different sources that I will definitely use for future articles. I will most definitely be able to use these methods to complete projects towards my University capstones and some of my work towards my company.

reflection 5

After spending the last 9 weeks looking over the given information I feel that this course has indeed helped me. This was not my first online class, I actually took another similar course last semester and I am also currently enrolled in another online class as we speak. Depending on the situation I am in, I usually prefer face-to-face interaction in small classrooms sizes. However, when that is not possible, such as this summer because I am away from home, I do enjoy the comfort of logging on and completing my work online. If I was in the position to attend an open work shop I would most definitely have attended. Those are priceless, you can learn so much and receive the one-on-one attention one needs to be successful.

Reflection 4

Being Library Competent. From a young age we are taken by our elementary school teachers to the local library. There we usually feel like young kids at a candy store, for every book with creative illustrations is eye popping. We don't exactly know the true intentions behind this constant visit, maybe its so that we could get a good walk. Later, you realize that you start moving from young children books to more informative books. The transition is quite simple and you don't really have trouble finding books that interest you. Once in high school, you are beginning to receive research assignments. Then, off you go to the library where it doesn't take you long to find information about your topic. You receive help with you essay structure and proper etiquette in citing your sources.

This student was basically myself, along with dozens of other classmates that I later saw get into the same routine. Though I now prefer using online libraries, such as the one provided by Long Beach City College. Online Libraries does not have the same impact on students as much as if you were to actually spend some quality time at your local library. I do feel that I am library competent, however, things change. Since things are constantly changing I may not have the complete update on how my local library is ran, so it is always a good thing to visit the library once in a while and stay updated because one never knows when they will be in need of the library.

Reflection 3

Okay, this is a bit late. But here it is. WE are about one week away from finishing this course and a lot has been covered. I have stated before that my approach to doing research was not as good as I now know how. I used to google a lot of my topics and rely on websites that I most likely didn't know if they were reliable sources or not. Now that Ms. Dena has introduced us to so many other sites, such as factfinder.com, it has become much more easier to find reliable information. I would suggest for all of you to save the websites that were recommended by our instructor for future reference. I know that sooner or later I will have to refer to them myself.

Reflection 2

Hey,

Okay, we are half way through the course and here is my outlook on Libraries. I still love the internet, for it is fast and easy to work with. I am not saying that Libraries should not be available to those who would like to use them. I am just saying that as far as doing intense research goes, I prefer the internet.

Libraries are still extremely useful because there you can receive the one on one attention one may need. Unlike the internet, question may not be answered as soon as one may need them. But overall, I still feel that having the internet access is much easier to work with.

Library Visit

My rating on the actual library was low, but because I am not a fan of Libraries in general. It was small and takes some time getting use to the people. But the service is GREAT, and its a great place to study. You could go ahead and make your choice about how good the library is, or how bad it is.

Library Visit

Hello, well here is my experience for my Library visit. Though I have stated in the past that I am not fond of actually going to the library , but since this was an assignment, guess I had no choice now. I took the time to visit Bay Shore Branch Library, which is located 195 Bay Shore Ave. Long Beach, CA. It's a small branch, few books compared to a bigger branch such as the Long Beach Public Library. The Library may be small, but they have a good variety of books to choose from and with enough computers for a small classroom [with High Speed Internet] it can be a quite useful place for research.

Bay Shore Library offers books ranging from Children books to Teens to Adult. They allow you to check-out just about in book within the library, however, they minimize the check-out time to a minimum due to the low amount of books that they actually have. The local Elementary school bring in their students for special reading sessions on week days; the library also offers assistance on homework for teens and adults. The library also has a reserved section for health, where they inform their members about healthy habits.

They also offer service learning, where [a teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility, and strengthens communities]. So obviously it a great service, and especially one that will help the community prosper from its youth. Like I have stated before, at Bay Shore there are enough computers for the number of people that come in on a daily bases. Also, since it is kind of hidden, their visitors are kept to a minimum, meaning that you do not have to wait long before a computer is available. These computers are ready to go with Microsoft Office 2007, and are also connected to the web through high speed internet. If I were a library type of person, perhaps I would be there studying once in awhile.

The Library overall is a 6 out of 10. It is a small library and the check out for the books are only a few days at a time [keep in mind that I'm not a fast reader]. The librarians are very nice though, they were very helpful by showing me around and answering most of my questions. Like I said before, if I were a Library person, I wouldn't mind being their once in awhile to do my homework or just to pick up a book. Well, I hope you all had a good experience with the libraries that you have visited, if not I would suggest giving Bay Shore Branch Library a chance.
