Reflection 2

Hey,

Okay, we are half way through the course and here is my outlook on Libraries. I still love the internet, for it is fast and easy to work with. I am not saying that Libraries should not be available to those who would like to use them. I am just saying that as far as doing intense research goes, I prefer the internet.

Libraries are still extremely useful because there you can receive the one on one attention one may need. Unlike the internet, question may not be answered as soon as one may need them. But overall, I still feel that having the internet access is much easier to work with.

Yes, the internet is a wonderful tool. And we have learned that we can access a 24-hour librarian using services through the LBCC online library. For those of us who are usually doing research at odd hours of the day (or night), the internet is invaluable. But they just don't replace that one-on-one interaction with a librarian when we're having trouble doing research. I believe we'd be lost if we didn't have access to an old-fashioned library.

Hi.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but I think libraries are needed now more than ever before, even with the ever increasing world wide web.

Publically funded libraries host more than just books...they are a get away, a place to use the beloved internet for FREE, attend FREE courses on how to use the beloved internet, a place to relax, a place to borrow DVDs adn CDs for FREE, and for the families - a place for FREE summertime entertainment. Go to any local library right now to find that the annual summer reading programs are in place, where not only kids get prizes for reading, but can attend puppet shows and do crafts...for FREE.

I guess libraries are not as highly regarded as in the past, but they certainly shouldn't be replaced by computers.
